In March 2024 The Southbank Centre welcomed their first Technical Academy trainees at the Southbank Centre 👋
The Technical Academy is a three-week pilot training programme aiming to create new pathways into careers in Technical Production, attract new talent and improve the diversity of the workforce.
This first cohort is made up of 25 participants who were selected from over 700 applications. While on the training course, they will gain a grounding in health and safety and build skills in the range of work that happens backstage in creative venues.
The Southbank Centre has been working with leading institutions and businesses across the arts and creative sector to co-design the programme and curriculum of the Technical Academy, including the Albany, Ambassador Theatre Group, ABTT: Association of British Theatre Technicians, Factory International, National Theatre, The Production House ., RNSS, Roundhouse Trust, Royal Albert Hall and Omnii Collective.
